I have some small wooden toys that my students have made at High School.  I would like to contact an orphanage so we can get them to the children.  Do any memkbers have any contact with a Thai orphanage?

Thanks

This memo was generated without checking spelling or grammar (I prefer to use that time to think good of you), your welcome to report errors (a complaint is a gift).

Hi

I collect donations (clothing/toys) and take to Bangkok on my monthly trips. We donate to various places

The main recipient has been "Sister Joan" - see this link        Sister Joan from WA (West Australian)

This year tour groups wanted more options ie., to visit places and learn more. We posted a "progress report" on this page, it has not been updated for the last few weeks

What we found

"Second Chance Bangkok", well suited to donations of clothes/toys" and they have a pick up service but not able to assist to host tour groups ie., no orgphanage or rather they are concerned about privacy issues for the kids (which we understand it's a trust problem for them)

We are trying to find groups that are interested in receiving visits from touring groups that either wish to know more and help by either donating something or spreading the word.

We contacted the "Cooking class in the slum area" to see if they had the dynamics - no luck.

The Mercy Centre is an Orphanage and they responded enthusiastically. Just a few days ago with a hospitable welcome now we are advancing the idea for tour grousp to visit this month and so on.  With some luck and collaboration we should have a positive result from the tour and a generous donation which will be supported by subsequent groups.. horah !

We also found another suitable venue and will update the report on the page soon

I'd like to acknowledge that TG (Thai Airways) staff in the Perth office and the airport are incredibly supportive to my over-sized suitcase which carries the donations...

If you wish to discuss further you can see my details on the Auswathai team page (Phill Smith)  - there is a link to my biz card - just call (emails are least preferred)

best regards, lucky
