Flood Victims Evacuated From Seven Central Provinces

Flood Victims Evacuated From Seven Central Provinces

Flood victims in seven provinces of the central region are being evacuated as more torrential water is coming down from the north, added with local heavy rainfalls.

High terrains at public schools, temples, army barracks and government premises were turned into evacuation centers for villagers of Nakorn Sawan, Uthaitani,

Chainat, Singburi, Angthong, Lopburi and Ayudhya who are being evacuated from their submerged spots throughout the low-lying provinces.

The flood victims will be very shortly taken to other places where they will be provided temporary lodging and food. They may stay there until flooding has gone.

An estimated 30,000 villagers have been provided shelter inside Lopburi's army barracks, including a cavalry center in a nearby Saraburi which has received flood victims from Ayudhya.

The army is currently responsible for deluged areas of Nakorn Sawan, Lopburi and Ayudhya, seen as the most damaged provinces.

Asia Highway passing Chainat was closed to traffic on Sunday, due to critical flooding on the main road leading to the north and northeast.

Lower stretches of Asia Highway passing submerged areas of Ayudhya, Angthong and Singburi were earlier closed.

Motorists were suggested to use Highway 340 passing Nontaburi, Patumtani, Supanburi and Chainat to travel to or from the north and northeast.
