His Majesty wished all Thais a healthy and happy life.

The King urged all people not to be neglectful of their duties, warning that mistakes can be costly to themselves and the country.

He said people should be impartial and firm and be conscious and aware of their actions at all times to bring sustainable happiness and peace to the country.

After his birthday speech was delivered, the King and members of the royal family left Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall.

Tens of thousands of people in pink shirts gathered along the road outside the Throne Hall to pay their respects
and chanted 'Long live the King' as the cavalcade went past, taking  His Majesty back to his residence at Siriraj Hospital.

The King was admitted to Siriraj Hospital on Sept 19 last year due to fever and fatigue. He has undertaken physical rehabilitation at the hospital since.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva called on Thai people to show loyalty to the King on the occasion of His Majesty's birthday.

Mr Abhisit said during his weekly broadcast that people should adhere to the King's sufficiency economy philosophy.

"Many of His Majesty the King's royally initiated projects have benefitted the people of the country.

"Many of the projects have solved social and economic problems," the prime minister said.
