I wish to bring my fiancee to Perth to live. He is Thai from Thailand. I know you can get a tourist visa which is 3 months, but is there another that you can apply for that is longer. When i return to Thailand in August we shall be married in Bangkok. I shall not stay long as i need to return for work. I am hoping to have my husband to be, In Australia before Xmas.
I have known him since 2006 have a couple of photo's to prove it, from 2006, 2007, we were just friends I lived at the resort that he worked at for 5 months. When I returned this year, I went to his place for Son Kran in April. With him and his family. We deceided that we would like to spend our lifes together get married and have children. I spent 2 weeks with him travelling and meeting both his sisters and family. I have photo's and Bus tickets to prove.
I know they ask for as much information as possible to support your relationship and position to support him when he is in Australia.
He (my fiancee) owns land in the South of Thailand, which my Dad and I are considering building a resort on in the future. My Dad wishes him ( my fiancee) to come to Australia first. My Dad will help support us. I live with my father who owns his home and has 2 investment properties. I have a fulltime job as well. My fiancee and i write on email, and also telephone, I know they ask for records and original mail. Chai is also working in Thailand, He will soon own a car, and i also put money into his account on a weekly basis. Also we will be married in Bangkok, what paper work do you need both him and me?
Is there anything else that i could be doing to help our position. Do you think or know where i can go for more information and support on the matter. Also is there any program to help get thai's into the Australian work force, He can speak english. Is there other persons that you know of that can help me for advice or the best way to prepare for a visa application.

ok.. The topic of Visa for Thai to Aus: IT (the process) is incredibly ambigious
Over the past 18 months we have made contact with many depts and sadly most (not all) people we speak with in (Govt dept) have a "don't care", they will generously promote a website but that is the beginning of a maze
We have visited the Immigration office in Bangkok, a Senior officer (Mr Faithfull) gave us a good understanding of the williness of the office to assit and the obstacles their staff are constantly faced with...
Unfortunately our experience has been whenever we follow that system someone else users discretionary powers to view the matter differently and worse the outcome is "sudden death", that is there is no evidencde of empathy ie., let you know they have doubt and give you a chance to get it right.. a "no" letter trickles through with a lot standard paragraphs making it confusingly clear that you can do little about it... but to start all over again and you have to guess what else to attach to make the case stronger
We are unable to find their "PR" Public Relations section, someone with some "empathy", to clarify the situation. I therefore suggest
if you don't have experience or spare time to try again then contact some visa agents and consider the value of their fee service to ensure you have success but check the competency of the visa agent
or
go to the Immigration office (IN PERSON) and see someone in person. Trying to gain knowledge or empathy over the phone is a lottery and certainly the website is only valuable if you are experienced with the web managers authorship.
Sadly my experience is the majority of staff including website managers are highly defensive and feedback is treated with contempt... it's a very unhospitable culture
Ironcially we have visited the Immigartion office in Bangkok about 4 times to seek knowledge form the officers... They tell us that without doubt about 85% of appplications are successful yet our experience has been 15% success rate .. so we need help
We have and continue to make frequent declaraion to Immigration office that we wish to promote positive goodwill of their process but it's hard to overlook the facts of our experience - maybe we have been unlucky
