biggrinTwo rather mature adults plus four young adults set off from Bangkok to test our metal on the tour of the rainforest of Chonburi. Not from the ground, but from in the air!!! The trip  to the treetops was perhaps a little long, but a well earned rest on the way back was appreciated by all. We first arrived at the forest to be led around the mini zoo.  A little more time would have been good, but we were eager to head for the treetops.

After kitting out in our very glamorous bandanas and safety gear we were introduced to our very capable leaders.  They handled the English language well and were not short of a joke or two!! A short safety demo and we were off trekking up the mountain through the cool rainforest, ( a wonderful contrast to the concrete  city of Bangkok) to our first platform, a short climb up the tree and we were ready for our first flying fox trip of the day. Mature adult number one, who is extremely afraid of heights, rallied! The extreme safety precautions had us in no doubt we were in capable hands.

The lushness of the forest and the adrenalin of flying so high among the treetops was fantastic!! The guys kidding around with you leaving you stranded mid way between  platforms all added to the experience. Be prepared it could be you!!!

The structure of platforms and lines are amazing! As is the forest. We all had a truly memorable experience. 24 platforms and 2 abseil trips! So worth the trip.

A suggestion, if you had the time and inclination/curiosity Pattaya is only 50 km (much closer than Bangkok) from the Treetop area so if you had your own car, taxi or van you could maybe take a trip to Pattaya's Walking Street and stay the night. Experience more of this friendly country and what it holds!

This was amazing! A really great experience.

I definately reccomend it, it's a great escape from the city and is extremely fun, even if you're a little scared of heights (as one of our group members were). The guides were really great, the rain Forrest is stunning, the abseiling is scary as, and the Zoo had baby hippos! It was a long day but a great one that was well worth the Ricky Martin DVD on the drive home! Make sure you take some good shoes, a positive attitude and this is worth a go.  See our 2010 Songkran Thailand travel diary and pics - click here
