It helps ensure as well as increase credibility among both domestic and international tourists, and is also a major tool for Thailand’s sustainable tourism development. These days, the Thai tourism industry is considered a model of quality assurance for worldwide tourism. To instill awareness and promote responsible management in tourism among tourism entrepreneurs, ultimately leading to sustainable tourism, the TAT initiated the Thailand Tourism Awards project for the first time in 1996, and has consistently organized the event every two years.

KINNARI
The awards are statuettes of the Kinnari, a half-human, half-bird mythological creature from Thai literature that represents beauty and exaltation. The Kinnari holds a lotus in one hand while a pigeon is perched on the other. The lotus in its hand symbolizes utmost purity, while the pigeon represents peace, brotherhood and harmony.
