GUESTHOUSE and RESTAURANT ON THE BEACH  IN THE MIDDLE OF PATONG
Fantastic location - right on the beach only 100 mtrs from Bangla Road (The main nightlife street Patong Beach), opposite the Safari Hotel. The Safari hotel is quietly tucked behind their prominent Seafood Restaurant known to all "the Savoey".

now back to "Sandy House" - you can't see it from the road, walk 50mtrs into the arcade and you'll see the neon sign. The premises are not modern but they are so "Beach house"  .. just like a family holiday home, right on the beach....

They have 9 rooms, all upstairs on the 1st floor, like most of Thailand YOU should "watch your step" (the stairs are steep).. All rooms are very good value the price.  at around 1,000 baht per day, depending on the season and your period of stay and longtime connection.   2 of the rooms have seaview balcony (pretty special).

Walk downstairs and 10 mtrs toward the beach and you arrive at the "Tipsy Prawn Restaurant" a thai style restaurant .. it seats about 60 people under an all weather canopy, table seatings are under cover or on the beach (how good is that!)

The restaurant is fully licensed so you can drink and eat all day and all night and sooooo cheap.... and the food is soooo good...
The staff of 15 are, like most Thai hospitality an extended family and within a day or so you will feel like your part of the family and they'll be your friends for life.

The restaurant is very comfortable in a casual style, all amenities are provided so sit back and relax and roll out onto the beach.  They don't have a swimming pool but why would you would you the beach is so close.

Tools of Modern life are not far away,

  1. 20 mtrs into the arcade is a "Internet caf'e" (but no coffee, you have to order that from the restaurant!) and across the isle from the internet caf'e is a massage shop and hairdresser and they always have a cold beer available and keen to chat about "OZ" as they have a connection ...  you can find out when you visit.
  2. Force yourself another 20 mtrs to civilisation (the road) and you have an un interrupted view of "The Savoey" the sensational seafood restaurant
  3. Hang a left 10 mtrs and you have ATM machines and chemist or go right and it's a tourist kiosk and ice cream parlour. Next to the savoy is a great little airconditioned restaurant (for those that need some creature comforts).
  4.  for some reason Bangla Road does not show on this map?

Bookings can be made by email otherwise just call and have a chat...

I met with Khun Or, an extremely hard working pretty thai lady dedicated to her job, taking care of her patrons and her staff (family) of 15.  You have any problem with attention to your care and should you need any local knowledge be sure to ask for a few tips.

Khun "Or" is also Mr. Fixit.  Although her encounter with the electrics was not her most memorable.. actually she is lucky to be around to tell the tale.  I can but imagine the loud "bang" and billow of smoke from her encounter with cutting wires would have drawn a lot of attention not to mention her new look "ash black" facial and hairdoo.  When "Or" described her appearance and then talked of smoke billowing from her mouth I was in a struggle of my own kind, I should not laugh it was serious but the way Thai  people describe some things in English .. oh boy anyway .. she survived and so did ...  I have told this story and have smiled and grinned with great enthusiasm knowing it has a happy ending.
