The "99 Baht buffet" or "Moo Kata"

It's a Great experience .. don't miss out on a well kept secret!

It's not the super cheap meal .. it's the experience ... a popular eating place for Thais..     your not likely to see anything English .. but it's this simple.....  when you find a Restaurant

claim a table order your drinks (oh so cheap) .. then

one thing to remember - it's rude to take the food and not eat it so don't waste the food

wonder over to the buffet table which offers an extravaganza of interesting and (dis interesting) items meats and veg ..
load up and when you get back to your table the staff have crank up a cooking device of some sort ........ and away you go

one thing to remember - it's rude to take the food and not eat it so don't waste the food

Pictured left. Auswathai Team during 2010 Songkran Phuket Tour

We visit the local MooGadaa resturant in Patong Beach.   It's in Patong Beach ...  we will try to give directions (only Spindle knows how to get there.. doh!)

It's such a lot of fun and different experience

it's BBQ and soup all in one a"Steamboat"......  now dont be shy the thais will love to help .....  just use the obvious hand gestures and smile a lot.... and tip well (the average staff earn as little as 3,000 baht per month)
you'll eat so much, have some great photos ... everyone around you will be smiling and the next day you'll be planning another visit

The venues are very common but not easy to find because they are not "sign posted" for Tourist. Just ask any locak for the venue as a "99 Baht Buffet" or "Moo Kata" ... the locals will appreciate your interest in their local style.... even better ask a local to take you ..   that way your get a new experience without being on a tourist bus!

There is a lot of History the
Steamboat and cooking methods

Our family is an avid fan of Moo Gadaah! It is a great experience with great food and a unique cooking experience. It is a very social way to eat sharing your cooking "bbq come steamboat".
Our Auswathai executive tour leader found this excellent way of eating some time ago and passed on the experience. We love it and you will too! Have a go and try some unique flavours too!

The only draw back with is the venuesd tend to be 3 star quality in presentation and it does get a little hot at the table but you have to look at the upside

It's immensley casual, everyone is social and I mean everyone, innclude the tables around you.

If you want the experiecne but prefere more stars then try the River City BBQ - Bangkok

Similar low price, much cleaner, on the 5th floor over looking Chao Phraya River...  read more in this article
