Bangkok Prep hosts an international sporting event Students from SE Asia gathered in Bangkok in celebration of sports

Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School (Bangkok Prep) recently hosted The Federation of British International Schools in South East Asia (FOBISSEA) Under 13 Games during March 14th - 17th at Bangkok Prep sports hall and other off-campus sporting complexes.

FOBISSEA is a membership association of British International Schools of quality in the South East Asia and East Asian region. The schools in the Federation work together to provide a range of combined events for their students, professional development opportunities for their teachers and collaboration on a range of matters that support the provision of a British-styled education in the region.

The FOBISSEA games, held at different locations each year, is an annual event that brings students together to compete in a friendly multi-sport competition over three days. The games are aimed at providing students with a variety of sporting opportunities in a safe, appropriate and competitive environment.

This year, seven schools from Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, participated in the event. These included Kinabalu International School, Malaysia; The Anglophone British Curriculum School, Vietnam; St Andrew's Green Valley, Rayong; Garden International School, Rayong and international schools from Bangkok including Traill, St Stephen’s, and Regent’s.

The young athletes participated in athletics, basketball, football and swimming. Students also had the opportunity to build friendship among the various school communities through specially arranged dinners and presentations.

Bangkok Prep dominated the pool, with their young swimmers winning gold medals.

Thirteen-year old Year 8 student Natalie Dunn, who competed in all the sporting categories and bagged a total of 8 medals, said “My best memory of this event was the friendship I made with so many friends from Vietnam, Malaysia and also Rayong.  It was such an enriching experience.

“On the last night, a dinner party was arranged for all the participants and we sang and danced with our new friends. As a Bangkok Prep student, I am so proud to have been a host and part of the FOBBISEA Under 13 Games. Most importantly, we won so many medals! ”'

Over 200 students, teachers, parents and staff members from all participating schools attended and supported the event, which provided students from various countries an opportunity to embrace the true spirit of the games by aiming high and showing good sportsmanship
