Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School recently hosted the G.A.T.E.WAYS (Gifted and Talented Education) maths and science workshop for gifted and talented children aged 7-12 years.
G.A.T.E.WAYS have run programs throughout Australia since 1994 but this was the first time these workshops have been brought to Thailand to provide opportunities for highly able and gifted children with special educational needs.
The two-day workshop, held at Bangkok Prep on 1-2 October 2012, was designed to enable students to participate in activities that challenged them intellectually and nurtured their various talents.
Participating students from international schools throughout Bangkok enjoyed the opportunity to mix with like-minded peers and form rewarding friendships to further foster their interests, social skills and self-esteem.
When asked to comment on the experience at the end of the two days, a Bangkok Prep student remarked: “It was great. We learned lots of fun stuff and I even made a new friend.”
Bangkok Prep was delighted to be the first school in Bangkok to hold this event and looks forward to being the host school for future workshops.
