Monday 21-06-2010: Day 1 at Milner International College of English.

Today, It’s the first day at school for me so I need to leave home earlier. My boss drives me there. I arrive at Milner International College of English at 7.45 am. I am waiting for the test in front of the reception desk. I am nervous because there is no one.Photo slideshow

Five mintues later, many people come through the door and out of the elevator. I feel better to know that I'm not the only one here. At 8 o’clock, it’s time to do the test (writing and speaking). Everyone walks into the reception room and gives their documents (passport ,visa copy , $50 for the textbook, a passport size of photo for the ID student card). Everyone fills in the paperwork. Students are called one by one to do the oral test, speaking skills, and then all the new students wait for the results for about 10-15 minutes. I am really excited and feel not sure about my test. One teacher walks to me and says "your test is very good but I am not sure what level I should put you in". For grammar, the best is 22 and for speaking, the best is level 2+. I got 21 and level 2+)

I receive details about my morning class (Teacher Craig in room 2.1.1) I go to my classroom on the 2nd floor. There are 5 students who are waiting. When the teacher comes in, he starts to talk to everybody in a friendly way. We all feel comfortable .He comes from Newzealand, he's very funny and helpful. I am very excited and happy. Everyone has fun in the classroom. The lesson is from 9 am to12 pm. I learn a lot of new words. We do a secret ballot to vote on how we will start the class the following day. At noon, I am very busy with the documents for school. In the afternoon the class starts at 1pm. I study with teacher Kevin. He comes from Canada, he's young and funny. I have 10 new friends. This class's activity is about conversation. I study about jobs.We play a game by writing 5 jobs on a paper and then everyone has to guess who wants to do this job.Time flies! I had fun a lot today. I can’t wait to go to school tomorrow. After school, my Korean friends show me where "Fitness First" is and then I go back home by bus.

Every Monday: Thai meeting

Usually,Thai students have to work after school every evening but everyone has the same day off which is Monday so we meet and do things together such as shopping, dinner at Thai-Korean-Japanese-Seafood restaurant, have a party at someone's home, etc. It's very easy to meet Thai people in Perth. The biggest avenue for Asian people is in North Bridge where there's a lot of stuff from Asia and many nice people ready to help if you need anything or want to know something. I have found how great it is to have Thai friends in Australia - We learn together, we help each other, we exchange experiences, we have fun, we chat, we laugh, we are happy together. If someone goes back to Thailand we still keep contact. It's nice to have Thai friends.

Every Tuesday : Waffle & cinema day

Why on Tuesday? Because the Waffle at Gelarehas promotional offers. If you order a  big set for 3 persons it's cheaper than usual. All Milner's students go to meet at this shop after school. Everyone gets waffles and ice-cream, we chat while eating and planning what movie we are going to see next at the cinema, which has discounts for students on Tuesday as well. What a fantastic day is Tuesday!

Every Friday : Graduation day

It was a sad and happy Friday. Our friends were going back home but we had a lot of fun taking pictures and congratulating the students who graduated from the school. They were done. The school is like a  2nd home for everyone. For me, I am really happy to have made new friends but really sad to see then leave every week. Anyway I wish you guys good luck(CHOK DEE KA)
