The one storey house - photo album I have often thought of the countries of the world; and on how they are different from one another. I always wanted to visit other countries and it happened that my first country is Australia – the city Perth.
I arrived to Perth at 8.00 am on 1 April 2010. Mr. Phill picked up me at the airport. Wow!!!! Other country that is not my own; another town that is not my home town! I am excited - how is the weather, the food, the culture, the people, transportation and buildings? One of the first surprises was the houses that I observed - people build only one floor. I was curious, because normally in Thailand most buildings have at least two floors. I considered this for a while and then came to the following possible conclusions:
1. The weather is cool, windy and they have frequent storms, therefore they must have safe houses – to protect the people from unpleasant weather conditions.
2. Australia is a big country and there is more than enough space to build single-storey houses!
3. For a good view - the one - storey houses with the large windows offer a good view of everything around the city.
4. Australians are warm, family-orientated people; everybody in the family can easily meet in one floor. I’ve also seen that houses in Australia don’t have bolts on bedroom doors, i.e. they do not lock their bedrooms. This indicates that everybody in the house feel welcome and friendly and experience a sense of sharing.
