Perth Zoo I wanted to see a Kangaroo and Koala Bear because both animals are famous in the world. So I went to the Perth Zoo on Labouchere Road, in South Perth. The Zoo have maps for $1, they have descriptions of the Zoo locations, 4 zones:
1. Walkabout Lawn 2. Australian Walkabout 3. Asian Rainforest 4. African Savannah
The Zoo is set up like a natural habitat for the animals. They are not like in a prison, the animals live in big enclosures, so they are very happy. For this reason most of the animals are always asleep i.e. Tiger, Lion, Kangaroo and Koala Bear. Especially the Koala Bears are asleep all the time, because that is what they do in the wild. They are a high light of the Zoo but they are asleep!!!!! Ha ha ha
The Perth Zoo has 3 Asian Elephants, one is named ‘Tricia” she is about 60 years old, she is very tame and beautiful. The staff walk her everyday around the Zoo for her exercise and you can watch. My favourite animal at the Zoo was the Pelican. It is an Australian bird and it is very big, it is very strange and different and is so beautiful. It has a big beak and lives on the water.
The Perth Zoo is funny and strange because it is so different to Thai Zoos. I think about this: different place, different forest and different animal.
I found they have many mothers and babies visit to the Zoo. Great! The children are taught to love the animals and educated about conservation and nature. The Zoo provide playground and roundabout/carousel for them. The staff organise classes for children, they teach and sing songs about animals and tell stories. It’s so cute.
Thank you for the volunteers/docents, they take photos for me, my trip to the Zoo didn’t have me in the photos with the animals, just the animals and environment only. The volunteers are elderly and have the will to help everybody and know a lot. Last of all, thank you Miss Tessa and Kelly Smith, staff good advisers, for helping me go to the Perth Zoo.
Hi Noi, I'm so happy you enjoyed your visit to the Perth Zoo. Tessa & I are very happy to have helped. It's a shame you didn't get to see the Koalas very well but you did get some good photos, especially of the Sumatran Tiger & Zebras! All the animals at the Perth Zoo are taken very good care of and protected. The Zoo also supports a lot of Animal breeding programs around the world to help save and protect ednangered species (like the Sumatran Tiger) this is very important & anyone who visits the Zoo is in turn helping in supporting the Animals! The Zoo also has a great shop & with gifts & souvenirs to purchase, including Elephant art & Animal Paw prints. So I hope everyone likes your story & will want to come to the Perth Zoo, it is a beautiful place & nice way to spend a day.
