Bike Tour with a difference     ...  No Hills, lots of Thrills!!!
The thought of slugging it out in the heat in crowded streets is a Misconception (another Myth busted)

Location: Central Bangkok       Tour options: 3 or 5 hour, price is around 900-1300baht
Tour group usually 12, includes 2 guides (front and rear). Lots of stops and water. 
Best Features:  No facades, you see the real thing. Flat roads, many stops a real eye opener

For Auswathai Travelers staying in Soi 19 (Wattana) Sukhumwit: the taxi ride is about 20 mins (80baht). We recommend you go a few hours early and enjoy a sensational meal in the start location of "China Town" (be aware of peak traffic times 7-9am and 4-6pm).

Arrival: Ask anyone in the Hotel check in for the Tour office. Check in, give them your thai number and let them know you will go visit 1 of the many restaurants for a delicious meal (it's China Town - recommend Fried Duck)

THE BACK ALLEY OF CHINA TOWN in Bangkoks "Underbelly". Not the gangster type (to my knowledge but who would know) but the dark hidden type needs to be seen to be believed.
We toured the underbelly district on bicycles with a very knowledgeable tour guide as you would expect but dont lose the main group as it would take you years to surface again. At the time I wondered why they had a "Tail End Charlie" but looking back I can see why. There are no road maps for this district and a GPS would be as good as a mobile phone without a battery.
In the 21st century there is very little that we haven't seen or done but this guided cycle tour needs to be experienced as there is no other like it.
There are 2 tours to choose from and I will be doing the other one soon as well.

Bangkok Bike Tour

Well organized, effortless, expectations surpassed

Threading our way thru the back alleys of China Town and beyond opening a small window into the daily life of the residents being left feeling for the post man who has to navigate these laneways every day the bike tour offered an easy way round to discover a lot in such a short time, would love to try the other extended tours on offer.

Tuk our guide lead us undaunted thru the traffic waving her yellow hat and as if to scrip the traffic parts to let us thru and we disappear into the unknown unseen alleys and laneways. Being invited into temples, witness to ceremony, passing markets and countless stalls (who buys all those shoes?), river crossings, refreshments supplied, photo stops and information available at call. You always get a happy “hello” from the inhabitants and a friendly smile as if your being there is also special to them.

Although an overused term I rate as a “MUST MUST DO”

 I too had the great opportunity to see Bangkok behind the scenes!! Ably led by Tukita (Tuk as in tuk-tuk for short) we ventured through the backblocks of this vast city by bicycle to find the "unreal" living conditions, narrow lanes and abundant stalls in the tiniest of spaces, super friendly natives who were keen to yell a hello or sa-wut dee ka!!, monks in training, temples and even an invite to try a meal with some Chinese women in their temple! All a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to all. Really see how the other half lives. An easy ride, though saddle soreness for some less accomplished riders and balance issues through some very narrow paths!! Bikes available for people with toddlers. Give it a go!!

Riding through the narrow back alleys of Bangkok was as faraway from anything i could have imagined a few weeks ago.
If you need parts for just about anything that can be driven on or off road grab a "Bangkok Bike Tour".

I was amazed at the number of workshops(6m x 6m garages) stacked to the roof with secondhand parts, from a Corolla fan to an Excavator Final Drive and probably most parts in between, it was a BLAST.

Our tour guide Tukita ( Tuk) had great knowledge of the area and excellent English which helped when explaining to us everything from the Fish factories and fresh Vege Markets to the park where the Kings Mother was raised and explaining how she and her family lived in there modest home.

The park was so peacefull like an Oasis in middle of a tangle of Homes, Workshops and Narrow Lanes.
I would recommend this tour to all when in Bangkok, its a must.
