Hi Em

we are always looking for ways to promote ambassadors and it is not easy...

most people are very kind end helpful but we have had a few that use the offer as a scam to take advantage of people so we have to use caution before we promote

we we have tried to do to make it easy
we created a website called "friends" click here and this is designed for anyone that wants to be a friend between ausie and Thai.

We created a special section called Ambassador and that is where we promote people who offer to host or help visitors.  Before we can promote you we need to know more about you to make sure the offer is genuine and within that section we suggest ways that you can show us

If the info does not make sense or not clear please let us know as we need the feedback

The ultimate way to show your support is to visit www.auswathai.com and visit the page "help us help them"  it details the many options of how you can show your support or even join the team

First time that I have posted to this forum, also from Perth. Last week a couple of our petanque players arrived back from representing Australia in the Pan Pacific tournament in Pattaya, Thailand on 16/17 June 2011, finishing third in the Nation's Cup. As expected the female teams from Thailand and Laos played exceptionally well and it's unfortunate that more Thai's have not become involved in the sport here in Perth. If anyone is interested in playing drop in at the Subiaco Petanque Club for you are more than welcome. The web address is http://www.petanquewa.org.au/ and playing times are listed under Subiaco.

Hopefully some time this year we will be hosting an afternoon of petanque with the Thai West Australian Association to get more Thai's involved.

Just ask for Michael. My son is duel nationality, Thai/Australian

cheers

Hi to all. I thought I should say that I lived in Thailand for 2 1/2 years both in the south, Hat Yai & Nakhon Si Tammarat, and some tourist districts. Whilst in the south I stayed with my girlfreinds family (and big it is) and this is where I learnt and understood part of the Thai culture and learning and understanding the language made in a little easier. What Im am saying is,and I say this with no disrespect to anyone is  that the occassional trip for 2 or 3 weeks every year maybe entertaining and enjoyable but you cannot get the full appreciation of these wonderful people and their cultural and of the poor and dark side. I fully support all that want to help the Thai community as I lover to do. Which I have done so for the last 3 years and I have learnt alot. I hope you follow through with your aid but a hard one it will be both for you and your guest.

From a farang perpespective "go for it". Helping people to have a good life is what we all should do.

A little project I have begun is collecting from Hard rubbish days (and good stuff there is) and sending it to Sth Thailand to families I know and have personal contact with. Believe it or not I have free transport of a 20ft container that I can fill but it is getting past customs in Thailand. Thailand laws state nthat it has to go to a charity foundation, but I want to give to the families I know of. ny suggestions would be good.

I hope I haven't offended anyone with my comments, just like to share my thoughts.

Any rambled on enough.
