MADAME Tussauds is now in Bangkok, the 10th from the Merlin Entertainment Group and the first to open in South-East Asia. It is also the first branch to open in a shopping mall.

The closest you can get to Madame Tussauds in Asia is at either Shanghai or Hong Kong.

It is the latest world-class tourist attraction to open in Bangkok and is located on the sixth floor of Siam Discovery in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping district.

Madame Tussauds opened on Dec 4 last year.

The concept is much the same with a blend of local and international figures. At the moment 30% of the wax figures are from Thailand and the rest are from abroad.

It has over 70 wax figures which are arranged in ten distinct zones.

There is a Royal Room where you can meet the royal parents of The King.

With King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s patronage, Madame Tussauds Bangkok features a royal room where wax figures of Prince Mahitala Thibed Adulyadej Vikrom Phra Baroma Rajajanok and Somdej Phra Srinagarinda Boromaraja-jonani are displayed.

Reflecting local culture and Thai loyalty to the monarchy, the Royal room allows visitors to not only learn about the life of the King’s parents but also the history of the Chakri dynasty.

You will find replicas of the Oval Office and you can even shoot a penalty with Steven Gerard.

Get on stage with Madonna and Beyonce and make some interesting music. Fans of Hollywood stars can take a picture with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or moonwalk with Michael Jackson.

If you like, sit on the couch and have a one-on-one ‘interview’ with Oprah Winfrey or simply take snaps with some of the biggest names in the world.

There are many opportunities to get up close and touch the wax figures of Thai pop sensation Tata Young.

There are also props that you can use or wear or stand alongside the Queen of England wearing your own crown or sit at the desk in the Oval Office and pretend to sign some papers.

Madame Tussauds is already a hit in Thailand although it is one of the oldest tourist attractions in the world as they first opened their doors 200 years ago

Famous Thai figures include Field Marshal P. Pibulsonggram, M.R. Seni Pramoj, M.R. Kukrit Pramoj, Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, Sunthon Phu, Luang Vichit Vadakan, Dr Porntip Rojanasunan, Pawina Thongsuk, Khaosai Galaxy, Tata Young, Ad Carabao, Pumpuang Duangjan, Yodrak Salakjai, Mitr Chaibancha, Phetchara Chaowarat, Sombat Metanee, Tony Jaa, Ken-Theeradej Wongpuapan, Pancake-Khemanit Jamikorn and Anne Thongprason.
